LITTERPICK: Great British Beach Clean, locations around the UK

Friday 15 September 2017 00:00 to Monday 18 September 2017 23:59
Details: We need YOU for the Great British Beach Clean this September!

Over 60% of beach litter recorded in last year’s clean-up was plastic. This is a growing issue, with some estimating that plastic will outweigh fish by 2050. But WE CAN STOP THIS if we work together now!

Not only will you clean-up the beach, you’ll record the litter you find, providing us with vital evidence to fuel our litter campaigns to stop it getting there in the first place.

Will you join our team of thousands of volunteers across the country to help clean up our coastline?

With over 200 events to choose from, and more being registered every day, there’s sure to be a clean near you. If not, why not organise your own?

We can all help tackle beach litter!

Can you spare an hour or two over the weekend 15th - 18th September?

Data from our beach cleans is making government and industry listen, but we can only get this evidence with the support of our army of beach clean volunteers.

  • Plastic bags recorded on UK beaches have reduced almost 40% in the last year, since the 5p charge came into force in all devolved nations in the UK.

  • Retailers are switching from plastic to paper cotton bud sticks.

  • Plastic microbeads are to be banned in rinse-off cosmetics.

  • We’re making headway in pushing for bottle deposit return systems.

This is why we need your beach clean data – to give us the evidence we need to make change!
